Well, I’m on day 4 almost (84) hours since I took my last line. The withdrawals didn’t hit near as bad this time and I can’t explain why. I was doing an eight ball or more a week for like 4 months. Instead, buck up and remember what’s in your control. Find a new, better and more rewarding job. Regardless of the situation, being a victim never kept someone in recovery.

For the first time, you notice just how much has changed. A lot of people in recovery become fitness buffs, and it makes sense.

You might think everything is great, but you don’t have to deal drug addiction treatment with you. Just as when you were a drunk, you thought you were fine because you never had to deal with you. But there will be changes and those who support you are going to have to put up with your changes. When you’re feeling down, seek out support from friends and family to help keep you sane and from slipping into old behaviors.

Too many systems and programs are antiquated. I will agree that there is some validity in the core of the ideals, but they were started at a time when people were not so socially connected. They also happened to be started by white, Christian, males. Throughout history people have believed crazy things, but knowledge and information changed many of those beliefs.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help and let people know that you’re having a hard time. They’ll be much happier that you reached out now, before you picked up, then afterwards, when a relapse has already happened. My belief that alcoholism isn’t a disease is not always popular.
